Your Voice Matters
At the Jewish Medical Association of Ontario (JMAO), we are committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all our members and the wider community. If you have encountered or witnessed any incidents of antisemitism, discrimination, or any other form of misconduct in healthcare (or healthcare education) settings that goes against our values, we encourage you to report it to us. Your reports are vital in helping us take appropriate actions and support those affected.
If you could be in any danger or if anything criminal may have occurred, please first contact the police (via 911 or via the non-urgent police phone number for your area, depending on urgency). If you are in the Greater Toronto Area, please also then contact UJA Community Security at 416-635-5600 or via their website.
How to Report an Incident Step 1: Incident Details Please provide a detailed description of the incident. Include dates, times, locations, and any relevant context. The more information you can provide, the better we can understand and address the situation. Please also let us know if you have reported the incident to other organizations or institutions (e.g., your hospital or university, a regulatory body, a Jewish institution). Step 2: Your Information While you can choose to report anonymously, providing your contact information will enable us to follow up with you for any additional information and to inform you of the actions taken. Step 3: Supporting Documentation If you have any supporting documents, such as emails, photos, or witness statements, please attach them to your report. These can be crucial in understanding the incident fully.
Confidentiality and Support Confidentiality: All reports are treated with the utmost confidentiality. We respect your privacy and will handle your report with sensitivity. Support: If you or someone you know has been affected by the incident, we can provide support and guidance. Please indicate if you require assistance, and we will connect you with the appropriate resources. Taking Action Upon receiving your report, our team will review the details and suggest or take appropriate action. This may include internal investigations, assistance with formal complaints, suggestions for legal action, or referral to external authorities if necessary. We may also (but only with your explicit permission at the time) connect members of our community who have a shared experience of discrimination in order to support them to advocate more effectively. We are committed to ensuring that all incidents are addressed as promptly as possible.
